A 2016 study of 80 women with obesity found that ginger could also help reduce body mass index (BMI) and blood insulin levels.

High blood insulin levels are associated with obesity.A 2019 literature review of functional foods also concluded that ginger had a very positive effect on obesity and weight loss.

4. Can help with Osteoarthritis

To be effective at reducing symptoms of osteoarthritis, especially osteoarthritis of the knee.

5. Reduce blood sugars and improve heart disease risk factors

In a 2015 study of 41 participants with type 2 diabetes, 2 grams of ginger powder per day lowered fasting blood sugar by 12%.

It also dramatically improved hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), a marker for long-term blood sugar levels. HbA1c was reduced by 10% over a period of 12 weeks.

There was also a 28% reduction in the Apolipoprotein B/Apolipoprotein A-I ratio and a 23% reduction in malondialdehyde (MDA), which is a byproduct of oxidative stress. A high ApoB/ApoA-I ratio and high MDA levels are both major risk factors of heart disease.


How to Prepare Pickled Ginger at home ?

You can find it in many supermarkets, yet you can always do it at home as this recipe is a successful recipe. Usually stick to the young ginger it is much easier to be peeled and its skin is thin. You can easily peel it with your fingers or a spoon. Chopping it in very thin slices would be the best as it would be marinated much easily and use the vinegar mixture and the sugar for marination.

First step, Wash the young ginger root and use a spoon to scrape off any brown spots with it and then, scrape off all the skin with a scraper or peel the ginger by hand. This step is very important for getting the ginger that is thinly chopped.

 

Second step, after you are done with the Slicing of the ginger thinly and salt the slices. Leave salted ginger slices in a bowl for about 1 hour.

 

Third step, start with the drying of the ginger slices and you can use paper towels and then, put them in a sterilized, and a  heat-resistant container or jar in order to prevent its infection.

Fourth step, Mix the rice vinegar and sugar in a pan and bring to a boil until the strong vinegar aroma has evaporated.

Fifth step, now you can start pouring of the hot vinegar and the sugar mixture to the ginger slices. If you would like more spices of the ginger, then pour out the liquid after 1 minute and then, leave it in liquid again for 2-3 days.

Sixth step, strat draining of the ginger slices by colander and leave them to cool on a paper towel and put them single layer at a time. The pickled ginger should change its color to light pink; if you are using old ginger, it might not turn pink naturally.

 

The last step, with clean hands, squeeze the liquid out of the slices and place them in a jar.

 

Remember that you can add ginger to boost the taste of every meal and especially on breakfast along with eggs.
